Senior Center’s Christmas Stocking Project Brings Cheer
Thursday, November 5, 2009 • Posted November 5, 2009

The San Saba Senior Center wishes to the thank everyone in the community who helped to make the cowboy boot Christmas stocking project a great success. The generous donations of time, money, materials and gift items have been amazing. Over the past weeks, the stockings were put together, decorations were added and then they were filled with a variety of food items, toiletries, and candy. In addition, each stocking received a personal note written by members of the Senior Center and a card with a prayer cross from Parkview Baptist.

Children from Faith Weavers of the Methodist church and children from First Baptist made cards to go in the stockings, as well. We included a prepaid postcard so that they can write back and let us know how they liked the gifts.

Along with individual contributions of stocking items, the Father’s House congregation collected a number of items as well. The San Saba Chapter of the Eastern Star donated money to help with shipping costs. The following people also made donations of money, time and/or items: Paul & Betty Wilson, Martha Roe Terry, Linda Harvell, Janice Taylor, Ann & Don McElroy, Tama Shaw, Lewann Turner, Kelly Murray, Violet Brown, Sharon & Doug Hayes, Fannie Crawford, Nadine Maultsby, Doris Porter, Francis & George Herrington, Joyce Bush, Sue & Frank Shaw, Billy Taylor, Julia Harrell, Linda Mixon, Maria Reyes, Pat Belk, Gene Dufner, Pauline and Alvis Longley, Richard Jackson, Cynthia & Chino Zapata, June & Woodrow Riggs, Margie McDowell, John R & Jocelyn McRorey James Harkey Nellie Burnham, Una Mae Hyatt, Louise Oswald, Maria Reyes, Mary Huron and a few people who wished to remain anonymous. If anyone’s name was left off of this list, it was unintentional. Please let us know so that we can acknowledge you.
