Basketball season is now upon us. Girl’s varsity basketball scheduled their first scrimmages of the year this past Saturday. Girl’s basketball coach Tony Dodson thanks everyone who attended the two Lady Coyote scrimmages Saturday at the Richland Springs gym. The varsity girls outscored Rising Star but came up short against Sidney. The Lady Coyotes next scrimmage is away on November 8th against Zephyr/Jonesboro. Coach Dodson was very complimentary of varsity girl’s scrimmage last Saturday. Come out and support our young athletes in UIL competition.
Congratulations to the varsity Coyotes on making the playoffs this year. A good crowd cheered the varsity Coyotes to an 87-19 victory over the Santa Anna Mountaineers in the fourth game of district play. The Varsity Coyotes are now 8-1 on the year and 4-0 in district! The Coyotes can wrap up another district championship with a win over Veribest. The varsity Coyotes play at Veribest at 7:30p.m. on Friday, November 6th. The Jr. High Coyotes lost against Santa Anna last Thursday, and the junior varsity team won. Both teams will play Veribest beginning at 6:00p.m. Thursday at Coyote Field.
Seventeen seniors of the Class of 2010 were introduced at last week’s last home game. The senior year always seems to fly by quickly for graduating seniors. The Football Sweetheart and Football Beau were also announced at last week’s game. Football Sweetheart is Stormi Davee and Football Beau is David Veitch. Come out and support the band, cheerleaders, and the student athletes at the games; you won’t be disappointed!
The Richland Springs’ 4-H club under the guidance of Valerie Gossett will hold their monthly meeting this Thursday after school. These students are learning citizenship skills that will last a lifetime. At the end of the last school year the 4-H students bought and planted St. Augustine grass in the front lawn of the school. The recent rains in October really helped the grass grow. Thanks 4-H!
October was Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Faculty and students participated in ‘HATS ON DAY’. Through this fundraiser the faculty and students of Richland Springs ISD donated $237 to the Susan G. Komen Foundation for breast cancer research.
It’s great to see our community supporting students in their efforts to achieve. We have a great community, students, teachers and staff. It takes everyone working together to achieve success. Thanks for all you do!
