The San Saba Armadillo Varsity & JV baseball teams played two games this past week. On Tuesday, the Varsity lost to Ballinger @ Ballinger 7-5. Ballinger hit the ball real well and pitched good; we played hard but came up short. The JV Dillos played well and came away with a big victory. All of the Dillos hit the ball well. George Long pitched good and was backed up with solid defense.

On Friday, both teams were at Wall. The Varsity won 8-1; the JV lost 8-2. Blake Lewis pitched as good as he has all year, not walking anyone. His preparation and focus was the best it has been. Defensively, we were solid with Casey Phillips, Luke Haug, and John Henry making some great plays. Offensively, we executed well at the plate and ran the bases real well. The JV played good against a great Wall JV. Miguel Flores and Michael Zimmer played good. Ryan Parks and Cody Hurd also had a good game.

This week the Dillos played at Jim Ned on Tuesday, and will play Coleman here on Friday. The Varsity is 14-7 on the year with a district record of 6-3. This puts us in 2nd place, one game ahead of Bangs.

It is getting down to the end and the playoff race is getting interesting. See you at Mill Pond on Friday.
