San Saba ISD is the fortunate recipient of a grant from the Texas History Foundation. What did the ISD receive as a recipient of this grant? San Saba Elementary School and Saba Middle School were able to take a field trip to the Bob Bullock Texas History Museum in Austin. Since the focus is Texas History, grade levels 4 and 7 were the concentrated groups that will attend the field trip. The content of social studies in grades 4 and 7 is predominantly Texas History, thus the grant was awarded to these two grade levels. The Elementary 4th grade students have already attended their day at the Museum and the 7th graders traveled on Tuesday, October 27.

I was notified early last spring of the donation of funds that made San Saba ISD qualify for this foundational grant. The Texas State History Museum Foundation received funds to support a field trip to the Bob Bullock Texas State History Museum in Austin for students from San Saba ISD for the 2009-2010 school year as well as the 2010-2011 school year. The funds are to be used for students in grades 4 and 7 and their teachers/chaperones to cover the cost so that these students can visit the museum to learn more about the history of their state and benefit from the museum’s unique educational resources. The funds provided covered museum admission (permanent exhibits, Herzstein Hall exhibit, Texas Spirit Theater, and IMAX Theatre), lunch at the Museum Café, and transportation costs to and from the museum for 110 students and 15 teachers/adult chaperones.

The donation of funds that made this grant possible was provided by Hughes and Betsy Abell, and we are grateful for their support.

Girls basketball will soon be in full swing as a scrimmage is scheduled for the weekend. As well, please join us over at Comanche to support the Armadillos in their Friday night football game!
