The last week-end in March Doug and Cyndi Suggs went to LaPort to visit Tiffany, Jeff, Monica and Samus. They celebrated Doug’s, Tiffany’s, Jeff’s and Samus’ birthdays.
Sydnie Suggs just returned from two weeks in China. She spent four days living with a Chinese family and going to a Chinese high school. She also got to do some sight seeing while there. Sydnie won this trip in an essay contest. She was among twelve students that went.
Tiffany and Payton Suggs and Monica Baisden came in for the week-end for Staci Light’s bridal shower and to visit Doug and Cyndi Suggs of course. On their way back, they made a detour to Fredericksburg to see Jeremy and his fiancee.
A group of Sojourners have been camping at the Cherokee Home for Children for the last two weeks. They have been getting one of the duplexes ready for Robert Baugh and his family. Robert is the new spiritual life minister for Cherokee Home. The Soujourners also held a gospel meeting for the Cherokee Church of Christ.
Delton and Valerie McGuire have been visiting with family and friends lately.
Seven students from the Cherokee Church of Christ took part in a Bible Bowl in San Angelo, Texas last week-end. Tommy and Kaci Morrison have been working with the group for several months getting them ready for the competition. The group brought home a second place trophy. Congratulations Talli and Tori Morrison, Holly Vaughn, Seth Wassenaar, Jonathon and Jacquelyn Odom and Yensi Dozier.
Franklin and Sandra Crain recently visited relatives on the Texas Coast. Franklin’s sister, Cora Nell Hedrick accompanied them. They were joined by Randle & Shawna Crain and Steve and Darline Boultinghouse. All enjoyed a bar-b-Que Friday night with relatives at Lusty and Clara Crains home in Blessing. Saturday several fished on the river near Matagorda and were treated with a fish fry that night at Gary and Karen Crain's. On Sunday, every one enjoyed lunch in Bay City with Ferris and Carma Crain. It was a very enjoyable weekend with food and fellowship with family. The spring flowers were really out around La Grange and further south.
This past week, Lusty Crain and Randle Crain visited with Franklin and Sandra and got in some turkey hunting.
Coby Randolph of San Antonio and Nettie Jean Randolph of Cherokee visited the Coy Pennington family in Fort Worth. Coby went to the Nascar Races. They also celebrated Nettie Jean’s birthday.
There was a wedding shower in the home of Lynda Randolph honoring Staci Light last Saturday afternoon.
There was a wedding shower in the home of Sue Broyles honoring Jimma Broyles last Saturday morning.
A Memorial Service will be held for Douglas Johanson at the Cherokee Cemetery Saturday at 2:00 p.m. Douglas lived in Spokane, Washington.
Joyce Capps and Maybelle and Gary Ray spent last weekend at the Ray’s home in Cherokee. Maybelle is doing much better. They probably will be home about May first.
