L. R. Taylor, Jr.

L. R. Taylor, Jr., age 87 of Buchanan Dam, passed away on Thursday, October 22, 2009 in Llano. He was born on July 15, 1922 to Lonnie Roy Taylor and Gertrude (Brown) Taylor in San Saba County. L.R. proudly served his country in the U.S. Army Air Corp during World War II, and retired as a Systems Analyst with Civil Service at Ft. Hood in Killeen and Ft. Sam Houston in San Antonio. He had been a resident of Buchanan Dam since 1983. L.R. was a member of the Church of Christ.

L. R. is preceded in death by his first wife of 51 years, Bernell who passed away in 1993, and his second wife, Dorothy who passed away in 2007.

Survivors include his daughter, Sue McCombs and her husband, Wayne of Buchanan Dam; three sisters, Ina Ruth Burnham of San Saba; Bobbie McKeown of Pasadena; and Nancy Price of Angleton; two grandchildren, Shelton Posey and fiancé Jesarah Oakley of San Antonio; and Jason McCombs and his wife, Dawna of San Antonio; five great-grandchildren, Shelby Posey, Maddie Posey, Abbi Posey, Dylan McCombs, and Hayden McCombs, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Funeral Services were held on Monday, October 26, 2009, 11:00 AM, at the Waldrope-Hatfield-Hawthorne Funeral Home in Kingsland with Rev. Larry Smith officiating. Graveside services followed at Lakeland Hills Memorial Park in Burnet County.

Memorial Contributions may be made to the Buchanan Dam Church of Christ.
