Matthew Kuykendall

Matthew Kuykendall, 80, of Hixson, passed away on Friday, October 16, 2009 his residence. He was born September 7, 1950 in Brownwood TX, the son of Johnson Kuykendall and Cloma Walker Kuykendall. Matthew Kuykendall and Anna Jeannette Tittle were married on April 2, 1953 in North Carolina. He was a native of Texas and served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. He lived in the Hixson area for over 40 years and was a member of North Hamilton Church of Christ. He enjoyed square dancing, hunting, outdoor activities and spending time with his family. His kindness, generosity and loving ways touched many lives. He will be missed by everyone that knew him.

Matthew is survived by his sons, Mike Kuykendall and his wife, Diane of Weskan, KS; Scott Kuykendall and his wife, Karla of Dayton, TN; his daughters, Lisa McDaniel and her husband, Eddie of Soddy-Daisy, TN; Kerri Sowell and her husband, Drew of Hendersonville, TN; 13 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren and one sister, Marillynn Hawkins of Cherokee.

Matthew is preceded in death by his wife, Anna Jeanette Kuykendall; and one son, Mitchell Todd Kuykendall.

A graveside service will be held Saturday, October 31, 2009 at 10:00 a.m. at the Kuykendall Cemetery in Cherokee, TX with Doug Suggs officiating.

The family requests that memorials be made to the Cherokee Home for Children.
