Little Girl Behind Bars
Thursday, April 10, 2008 • Posted April 10, 2008

Last week I received some pictures from a country on the other side of the world. One of the pictures that really touched my heart was of a little girl standing behind a fence made of heavy iron bars. She was dirty faced; unkept and had such a sad look. That picture reminded me of the circumstances and situations that many people live in around the world. Many are brought up and held prisoners by a Religion and the laws of their country. In many countries there is only one religion allowed and you are forced to join it. Other Religions are not tolerated and if you proclaim them you are beaten, imprisoned, lose all your earthly possessions and killed. God wants us to have the freedom to choose but he also want us to hear the truth, (Luke 4:18, John 8:32). Some of the last words Jesus spoke were that His followers were to take the good news into all the world, (Matthew 28:19&20). That good news is that Christ died for our sins and that by putting our trust in Him we can have forgiveness and be set free from sin and it’s penalty, (John 8:36 &10:10). What can we do? We can pray for them, (Colossians1:9, 1 Thessalonians 5:17). I have a cousin that is really burdened for people in other parts of the world and she prays for them all the time. See you in Church next Sunday.
