The San Saba County Commissioners Court met on Tuesday, October 13th at 1:30 p.m. in the County Judge’s Chambers. Judge Byron Theodosis called the meeting to order. Commissioner Kenley Kroll gave the invocation followed by everyone joining for the pledges to the American and Texas flags.
Judge Theodosis gave information that Oncor has submitted a new route for their electric transmission lines to PUC that will involve a large portion of San Saba County.
The local Data Advisory Board will travel to Fredricksburg, Texas on October 20th.
The following Action Items were approved:
1. County/District Clerk Kim Wells’ Report.
2. County Treasurer Gayla Hawkins Report.
3. Justice of the Peace Report and the County Jail Report.
County Sheriff Allen Brown gave a report on the jail improvements; a one room termite problem is getting under control at the jail; waiting for grant cameras; three narcotic dogs will be paying surprise visits to area schools; the use of generators for emergency power; the jail had to replace a washer and dryer and a stove was donated to the jail; and district court will be Oct. 21st, 22nd & 23rd.
The following reports were accepted by the Commissioners: County Judge; County Extension Agents; County Indigent Health Care Program; County Grant Writer; County EMS Billing; County Emergency Management; County On-Site Sewage Facility; County 9-1-1; Trapper.
The minutes of the previous Commissioners Court meeting was approved.
The Commissioners signed the Proclamation proclaiming the Month of October, 2009, National Domestic Violence Awareness Month and presented the certificate to Georgia Harris, Director of The Dove Project.
The final Group Health Insurance Plans for 2009-2010 was approved. The two plans are CC30 w/ $2,000 ded. and the secondary plan - CC30 w/ $500 ded.
County Treasurer Gayla Hawkins explained the Unclaimed Property of $341.26 and the Commissioners agreed to make procedures to procure the funds. Hawkins gave information concerning a budget adjustment regarding the minimum wage change.
Johnnie Shahan of the San Saba Volunteer Fire Dept. submitted information regarding payment of the firehouse software. Shahan also presented the need of a Carbon Monoxide Tester for the Fire Department. Both items were approved by the Commissioners.
Neal Alexander, County Agriculture Agent, presented information regarding District 7 County Judges’ and Commissioners’ Conference, December 10th. CU’s will be applied.
The 2010 San Saba County Courthouse list of holidays was approved.
Four items on the agenda were tabled.
The Commissioners approved the payment of bills and the Amendments and Line Item Transfers to the 08-09 and the 09-10 Budget presented by Gayla Hawkins.
Commissioners Court dates were set for Monday, October 26th at 1:30 p.m. and Monday, November 9th at 9 a.m.
The subject of the restoration of the Courthouse funding was discussed and plans made to attend the Town Hall meeting at 7 p.m. tonight to discuss this matter.
Judge Theodosis adjourned the meeting.
