October 7, 8, & 9, 2009 five ladies, Hattie Rogers, Jo Anne Hardy, Sandee Hartley, Jo Ann Snow, and Anita Miles, from the San Saba River Ladies Golf Association attended the Senior Women’s Amateur Golf Association of Texas 2009 Fall Tournament in Bastrop, Texas.

Jo Anne Hardy had a grand tournament! Capturing First Place Net with a 63 in the Eighth Flight and winning closest to the pin in the Eighth Flight and also a door prize! She was only one stroke out of first Low Gross. We were proud to have a winner from San Saba! This was Jo Anne’s fourth win in this flight! The second day was rained out so the prizes were awarded on a one day play. Jo Ann Snow was in contention in the Seventh Flight with a score of just one stroke out. San Saba was well represented and the ladies had a wonderful trip of fun and fellowship inspite of the weather.

The ladies registered on Wednesday and were served snacks of cheese, fruit, crackers, and a vegetable tray and paid their dues for 2010 at the Pine Forest Golf Club. Anita Miles represents San Saba and serves on the Executive Board.

The Banquet was held Thursday night at the Bastrop Opera House. The ladies were served a delicious dinner of pork loin with all the trimmings and the closest to the pin awards were presented. Jo Anne Hardy won this event in the Eighth Flight and received her gift certificate. The ladies have an annual raffle and Jo Anne also won that gift! Great tournament for Jo Anne!

Friday was supposed to be the second day of play but the rains came and the board decided to call the tournament and the awards were given on the Thursday play. There was a fun putting contest in the club room for the flights that did not get a ball on the green on Thursday. Jo Anne Snow, Hattie Rogers, and Sandee Hartley all participated but alas - no winners.

It was announced that the Spring Tournament will be at Squaw Valley Golf Club in Glen Rose, Texas. This is an event all the ladies look forward to as they play all over Texas and have made friends with lady golfers from all over Texas.

Now we are back to the real world and it looks like winter is headed our way. We may be inside playing games but everybody knows we’d rather be “swinging!’
