Staying on Trail
Thursday, October 15, 2009 • Posted October 15, 2009

Years ago I went on a Boy Scout hike and we had to go through a difficult place something like a swamp with sinkholes. Our scout master said there was just one trail through that swamp and he told us to follow him, stay in line and not to go off on our own. As we got into the swamp there were many crisscrossing trails and many times the trail we were on did not look like the best one or the way. Some of the boys ahead of me thought they would take a short cut and they started sinking in the soft ground. That experience reminds me of something in the Bible. How do we know what is true in life or who or what can we trust? The Bible teaches that God is a God of truth and trustworthy and no lie is in Him, (Psalm 31:5, Titus 1:2, Isaiah 65:16, Exodus 34:6). Another thing we can trust is His word, the Bible, (John17:17, Titus 1:1). Most important is Jesus Christ and what he did for us on the cross, (John 14:6&1:17, Mark 26:28, Luke 24:47). On the other hand there is a lot of falsehood or lies in our world. The father of lies or misinformation is the Devil and there is no truth in him, (John 8:44). We can reject and ignore the truth, (2 Timothy 3:8, 2 Thessalonians 2:10-12). See you in Church next Sunday.
