Ladies Golf Notes
Thursday, October 8, 2009 • Posted October 8, 2009

The San Saba Ladies Golf Association met October 1, 2009 for the monthly business meeting with the following members present: Sandee Hartley, Jo Ann Snow, Dorothy Sterner, Hattie Rogers, Becky Hardin, Jo Anne Hardy, Janet Hoyt, Bobbie Churchill, and Anita Miles.

The meeting was called to order by the President, Anita Miles, and the meeting was opened with prayer by Hattie Rogers. The Secretary, Hattie Rogers, read the minutes of the September regular meeting and the call meeting and they were approved as read. The Treasurer, Bobbie Churchill, gave the financial report.

Sandee Hartley. the Traveling 4-Ball Chair, announced that the event for October will be at Delaware Springs on October 27, 2009 and will tee off at 10:00 AM. If you plan to attend you need to call Sandee Hartley.

The ladies once again expressed their apprecation for the new fountain given by Becky and Larry Hardin. It makes such a beautiful first impression of the San Saba River Golf Course, as you see it from the gate to the club house.

Jo Ann Snow gave a report on Bette Odom and her health issues and Anita Miles gave a report on her little Shitzuh, Princess Anni. She is recovering from surgery which is a miracle because she is almost 17 years old, but she’s very special at her house.

The ladies adjourned for play with Anita Miles calling for a game of tournament golf with the ladies divided into flights according to their handicap.

The First Flight of Anita Miles and Sandee Hartley, after a battle to the finish line, ended in a tie!

The Second Flight was another evenly scored match up. Hattie Rogers led the first nine and then Jo Ann Snow overtook her on the back nine for the win. Dorothy Sterner was only one stroke out.

The Third Flight Janet Hoyt had the lead till the 18th hole when she “had a wheel run off” and went in the dreaded water hazard and was overtaken by Jo Anne Hardy. Becky Hardin completed this flight.

Anita and Sandee tied for the Low Gross for the day and Janet Hoyt scored the Low Net for the day and also chipped in. However, Becky Hardin also chipped in so the two ladies had to split the chip in pot.

Bobby Churchill should get the ‘Good Sport’ award as she once again came out and rode with the ladies and encouraged them in their play. We miss Bobbie playing because she is a great competitor. We are hoping she will soon be back on the links!

Here are the closing thoughts for the day. We wish Jo Anne Hardy, Hattie Rogers, Jo Ann Snow, Sandee Hartley, and Anita Miles ‘good luck’ in the Texas Senior Ladies Tournament in Bastrop, Texas October 8-9, 2009. Keep your head down, your concentration intact, and just keep on “swinging!”
