The rain is here and looks like it is to stay all week. Who is complaining? This is what everyone has been praying for.

Last week seven women from the Bend were on the road in two separate vehicles making their way to LaGrange. They spent the night at a bed and breakfast owned by Edna Machen and the next day shopped at the antique shops along the road from LaGrange to Round Top. Attending was Edna Machen, Malissa Lemons, Mary Jane Dennis, Jane Clark, Lewvon Hicks, OraBeth Hicks and Winnie Lou McCoury. Edna, Malissa, Lewvon came back to Bend earlier than the others, dropped off Lewvon and picked up Jim Machen and continued on to Canyon Lake where they stayed in a Condo over the weekend.

Bill and Jo Price were in Marble Falls Thursday for Jo to go in for a scheduled check up. While there they had lunch with Bowman Seals of Johnson City at the Blue Bonnet Café.

Glenda Scroggins is back in the Scott and White hospital in Temple and is seriously ill. Everyone needs to keep the family in your prayers. Rufus Cobern and LaNell Daniels also need to be on your prayer list.

Jane Clark and Gladys Brister went to Houston to visit Mae Dell Hulsher who was ill. Jane and Gladys spent the night and returned home Sunday.

George and Toni Mayben were in San Angelo this past weekend visiting their children and attended a soccer game to watch their grandchild play.

The Bend was well represented at the Central Texas Telephone big bash Saturday at the Civic Center. Jimmy and Sylvia Stinnett, Leon and Mebbie Eckhoff, Bill, Jo Price, Robert, Spring and Haley Price and Jack Daniels. Sylvia was the only one out of the bunch that was lucky enough to have her ticket drawn. She won a nice large vase sitting on a stand. No one went home without something as the Co-op gave everyone who attended a nice folding camp chair to take home, and there is always next year to look forward to. The entertainment alone was worth going for and of course the food was not bad either.

Remember the street sale at Bend Saturday, October 10, starting at 8:00 a.m. The rain may hold off long enough for the sale to happen, if not then plan for the next Saturday, October 17. That will be the same day as the Bend Community fish fry, cake auction and silent auction.

Happy birthday greetings go out to Cody Herd who will celebrate a birthday October 13.

Congratulations go out to Tommy and Mitzi Pulatie who will celebrate an anniversary October 11.
