Pecan Valley Son Riders team up with the San Saba County Ministerial Alliance
Thursday, October 8, 2009 • Posted October 8, 2009

Recently, the Pecan Valley Son Riders donated $200 to the San Saba County Ministerial Alliance. The Ministerial Alliance is comprised of ministers from various churches and denominations throughout San Saba County that share the vision of coordinating the efforts of various community partners in providing necessary resources to meet the physical needs of many folks in the area that have encountered misfortune and have no other way to meet those needs. The Alliance can always put a donation of any size to good use.

The Pecan Valley Son Riders (PVSR) currently has a membership of 24 men, women and young adults. The funds donated by PVSR were generated by donations from the members as there are no dues associated with membership. PVSR is comprised of residents from Cherokee, Kempner, Lometa, Richland Springs, and San Saba.

PVSR has in the past assisted in several other community functions by organizing and staffing activities in support of such projects as Hope Not Dope, Mission San Saba, and the San Saba County Sesquicentennial Celebration. PVSR is not a stand alone organization, but is a chapter of the nationally recognized Christian Motorcyclists Association (CMA). CMA is not a “Motorcycle Club”; it is an association of people with similar interests and goals, the most important of which is the love of Jesus Christ and the furtherance of the gospel. Secondarily is the common interest of motorcycles and motorcycling. The combination of the two leads to the understanding of the CMA slogan “Riding with the Son.” PVSR is not necessarily an organization that is all work and no play; they enjoy an array of fellowship functions together, not the least of which is motorcycling. However, one does not necessarily need to own a motorcycle to be a part of PVSR or CMA. The chapter conducts monthly business meetings on the second Tuesday of each month at Gage’s Barbeque, 706 N. High St., San Saba. The organization welcomes to the meetings anyone who has an interest and would encourage those with interest to join them in their mission. The group gathers at 6PM for a meal with the business meeting beginning at 6:30 P.M. For more information locally, you may call (325) 372-6091. More general information may be found on the CMA websiteby going to www.cmausa.org.
