Chewing Their Cud
Thursday, October 8, 2009 • Posted October 8, 2009

No, I am not talking about chewing tobacco but cattle, sheep or goats chewing their cud. I do not think there is a prettier sight than seeing livestock laying down in green grass and peacefully and contentedly chewing their cud. Seeing them that way reminds me of something in the Bible. God provides for everyone good or bad or as some say, “it rains on the just and the unjust” But for those who have entered into that special relationship that God has made available to us, there is the promise of some special blessings.

To have those special blessings we must have repented from our sins and put our faith in Jesus Christ. Then we have the privilege of receiving those special blessings. Sadly to say many think those blessings are just more dollars or that is all they are looking for, (Romans 14:17).

The forgiveness of our sins, (Matthew 26:28, Luke 24:47, Acts 10:43) is one of the greatest blessing and another is that new relationship to God. Moreover, there is the promise of eternal life with God, (1 John 5:11&12). We also receive peace of mind, (John 14:27) and joy in our hearts, (John 15:11, Acts 13:52) and the hope of a wonderful future, (Acts 26:18).

Is our life filled with unhappiness, turmoil, and no inward peace? It does not have to go that way. Try Jesus.

See you in Church next Sunday.
