The Indians Varsity had an open date last week so the JV borrowed some players off of the Varsity and played the Brookesmith Mustangs JV last Thursday.

The Indians scored twice in the 1st quarter. Freshmen starting quarterback Stephen Austermann threw a beautiful pass to Damion Cooks who took it to the endzone to complete the 46 yard TD reception. Shea Crawford returned a punt 63 yards for the other Indian TD. The Indians lead 12-0.

Austermann and Cooks connected again in the 2nd quarter on a 35 yard pass play. Payten Vaughn came up with a Mustang interception. Austermann scored on a 5 yard run to give the Indians a 24-0 lead at halftime.

Cooks scored again in the 3rd quarter on a 23 yard run. Cham Fox kicked the PAT. Brookesmith scored their first TD on a 30 yard run and added the 1 point PAT. Fox returned the ensuing kickoff 53 yards for a touchdown. Austermann threw his third TD pass of the night to Payten Vaughn for a 26 yard TD. The Indians took a 46 – 7 lead into the 4th quarter.

Brookesmith scored the only points of the 4th quarter on a 5 yard run. The PAT was blocked by Fox. The Indians came away with a 46-13 victory.

Other players who saw action were Payton Tatsch, Aaron Iverson, Thomas Jackson, EJ Borchers, Ryan Breadner, Chisholm Duke, Trey Shannon, and Mikey Smith.

The Indians will be back in action Friday night as the Mullin Bulldogs come to town. Kickoff is 7:30 p.m.
