Ladies Golf Notes
Thursday, October 1, 2009 • Posted October 1, 2009

The San Saba Ladies Golf Association met September 24, 2009 for play day with the Chair for September, Sandee Hartley, calling for a game of playing the par threes from the white tees, the par fours from the gold tees, and the par fives from the red tees, less your handicap.

First Place went to Sandee Hartley as she also captured Low Gross and Low Net. Second Place went to Jo Anne Hardy, and there was a tie for Third Place between Hattie Rogers and Jo Ann Snow. However, the big winner of the day was Aileen Roberts as she chipped in to win the chip in pot. Other players were Anita Miles, Dorothy Sterner, Becky Hardin, and Janet Hoyt. Bobbie Churchill and Pat Ribb came out for fellowship and lunch. We were so sorry to learn that Pat isn’t going to get to have corrective back surgery. We were all in hopes that this might restore her health and well being. Bobbie is now on an exercise program and maybe with this strengthening she will soon be back on the links.

The ladies are so happy that Aileen Roberts and Janet Hoyt have joined the Ladies Association. They are a pleasure to be with and will add much to the organization. We would like to have other golfing ladies to join us. At least come visit and you may just have a great time and want to be a part of the Ladies Golf Association!

The ladies had a special treat as the new fountain was being installed by the City. Larry and Becky Hardin so generously donated the funds for this beautiful fountain that was installed on Hole # 5. The Hardins have contributed so much to the San Saba River Golf Course! They are the kind of members every organization would like to have. The workman displayed different configurations of the fountain and the Hardins picked their favorite. It is in a beautiful location. You can see it when you are arriving at the course and can see it from almost every hole on the front nine.

October 8-9, 2009 Sandee Hartley, Jo Anne Hardy, Jo Ann Snow, Hattie Rogers, and Anita Miles will be attending the Texas Senior Ladies Tournament in Bastrop, Texas. They have been attending this tournament for several years and look forward to it. We have had winners in the past. Anita Miles, Sandee Hartley, Jo Anne Hardy, Bette Odom, Betty Sue Low, and Jo Ann Snow have all won medals at this tournament, which is quite a feat as there are over 100 participants from across Texas.

So once again the ladies are ‘getting their game face on’ and practicing their skills and focus and well, actually they just like to be out there “swinging!”
