It takes place on almost all livestock operations and some times it is fun other times it is a real chore. One thing I have learned in working livestock is that there usually is some that want to breakaway from the herd. No matter how hard you try or no matter how good of a horse you have they still get away. Then comes the challenge of trying to get them back into the herd or flock.

This task reminds me of something the Bible talks about. It is about people who accept Christ and then go to church for awhile or some for a long time and then they stop going. They have little interest in being around or talking to other Christians. Many times they leave because of sin in their lives.

There have been times I have been so frustrated with sheep or cows that were determined to run away that I said, “just let them go”.

Is this what we are to do with fellow Christians that leave the flock? No! The Bible says we are to bear one another’s burdens and try to restore them or bring them back to the herd, (Galatians 6:1&2).

First and foremost we can pray and do not give up, (Colossians 4:2, Philippians 4:6, James 5:15&16, 1 Peter 3:10-12). Second we can talk to them but we are to go with a gentle spirit not cracking the whip, (Galatians 6:1).

See you in Church next Sunday.
