The fall like weather this past week was wonderful and with the weather the football games and the rains everyone seems to be in a better frame of mine. Especially after the recent rains.
Leon and Mebbie recently made a trip to Biloxi, Mississippi. They enjoyed seeing all the different sites and of course had to try some of the casinos that are located there. Mebbie reported that the food was out of this world and the hotel Beau Rivage was one of the most beautiful ones she and Leon had ever seen.
Last Sunday Mebbie and Leon went to Harker Heights to eat at the Cracker Barrel to celebrate their anniversary.
This past weekend Donnie and Rachel Eckhoff was in from Leander visiting. He and Rachel had dinner with his grandmother Jolene Lively and showed her pictures of their trip to Ireland.
Jane Clark celebrated her birthday with a bang. She drove to Lubbock spent the night with Boyd and his family, got up early and went to Portales, N.M. to be with Elsa Dean Shirley and from there the two ladies went to Clovis, N.M. to attend a Rock & Roll music festival. They were joined there by Kenneth Shirley from Claude, Texas. According to all reports it was a fantastic affair. Sunday Jane was back in Lubbock where Boyd, Melissa and children took her out to eat at the Red Lobster, another birthday celebration.
When Jane has a birthday it is really celebrated like no other. Saturday Jane and William kept Jordan and Jaylee while their parents Doug and Kristi Messer attended the Long Horn and Oklahoma foot ball game with Danny Clark and Bill Ennis of Bastrop.
Steven Bynum and his family had lunch after church in the home of William and Jane Clark. They were joined by other members of the Clark family and Toni Mayben. Steven conducted the Sunday service at the Church of Christ.

This bit of news didn’t make it in last week’s paper. Jerome and Shirley Meischen, Craig and Sheila Barefoot returned home from Laramie, Wyoming Sunday, September 12. It was Jerome’s first time to fly, and believe it or not he made it just fine. Just goes to show you will do anything to go watch a grandson like Blake Gideon play football. Blake who is number 21, played most of the game. Hooray, the Longhorns won. Now that Jerome has gotten his feet wet flying he just may be flying off again to see Blake play.
Happy birthday wishes go to Jerome Meischen who will celebrate a birthday September 25th, to Pam Henniger whose birthday is September 28th, to Jamie Houdyshell who will celebrate a birthday September 29th.
Congratulations go out to Tommy and Clovia Ketchum whose anniversary is September 27th.
