Thursday, September 17, 2009 • Posted September 17, 2009

The Dillos traveled to a rainy Goldthwaite and Plucked the Eagles 24-18 Saturday morning after the Thursday night games were rescheduled. The Dillos started the game with a tough defensive stand that forced the ball over on downs, and then the Dillos started to go to work. The Dillos were led behind the legs of Gabriel Zimmer and Joel Franco and with the arm of Garret Welch.

Offensively Gabriel Zimmer had 2 TD’s and Joel Franco had 1 TD, passing was Welch to Nick Guerrero and Joel Franco who each had a catch, these were strategic 3rd down conversions to keep the drives alive. Other Offensive standouts were Drew Daniel, Jason Jimenez, Juan Gonzales, Bryon Riggs, Joseph Messer, Jessie Franco, and Saul Cervantes.

Defensively the Dillos did a great job denying the Eagles on every extra point attempt! Led by tackles from Luis Macias, Benito Huerta, Cristian Guerrero, Will Cooley, Ridge Smith, and Emiliano Zapata.

Welch had a game deciding interception in the fourth quarter that ended the hopes for the Eagles. After this great play the Dillos took over and kneeled the ball to let the clock run out. This was a hard fought game in the rain and it was fun. The Dillos face Johnson City this Thursday at 5:00 p.m. come out and support these kids.
