JV Dillos Defeat the Eagles

The Dillos had a great victory against the Goldthwaite Eagles. At the start of the game, it appeared the Eagles were going to dominate the game but, the Dillos decided to start playing like they are capable of doing and came out with a hard victory 28-20.

In the first quarter, the Eagles drove the ball and scored a TD. The two point conversion failed. It was 6-0 at the end of the first quarter.

In second quarter, Zack Davis scored on a 2 yard run to tie the game. The two point conversion was a successful pass from Clayton Perry to Luke Cox making the score 8-6.

The Dillos scored again on the next possession on a 53 yard pass from Clayton Perry to Luke Cox. The two point conversion attempt failed. Goldthwaite drew nearer to the Dillos on a 16 yd. run and the two point conversion attempt was not successful.

The Dillos then marched down and scored on a 6yd. run by Zack Davis. The two point conversion was a successful pass from Clayton Perry to JT Mathis making the score 22-12 at the half.

In the third quarter, the Dillo defense got stingy and had an awesome goal line stand to preserve the lead.

At the beginning of the 4th quarter, Luke Cox picked off a pass to stop another Goldthwaite drive and preserve a San Saba victory. After a punt, Goldthwaite scored on a 45 yard run to bring the score to 22-20 late in the 4th. The Dillo offense responded to the call by scoring on a 30 yard run by Zack Davis. The two point conversion attempt was unsuccessful bringing the score to 28-20 San Saba.

The Eagles drew near to the goal line on the last drive of the game, but the Dillo Defense bowed its neck and Luke Cox intercepted a pass squashing any hopes the Eagles might have had to tie the game.

There were many outstanding players throughout the course of the game on Saturday. Luke Cox scored a TD had a 2pt conversion and 2 interceptions and had an overall outstanding game. Other stand outs were Zack Davis, Sean Argote, Clayton Perry, Dusty Parum, JT Mathis, Juan Ortega, and Ian Spence. The JV Dillos will play their next game at home on Thursday September 14th.
