Elm Grove Echoes

I think it has rained every day for a week and it appears to be all over the state. We have had almost 4 inches here in Richland and I have seen some full stock tanks in the area. This should give the old cows some good grazing going into the winter.

We were sorry to hear of the passing of Ella Mae Patrick of Bowser. She was a good friend of mine, all the way back to our school days. We will miss her. Funeral services were held Saturday with burial in the Varga Chapel Cemetery.

We were also sorry to hear of the passing of Bill Donahoo of Bangs. Bill was one of my cousins. His services were held Saturday in Brownwood. We send our sympathy to both of these families.

There was a good turnout for the 42 tournament in Richland Springs last Saturday night, with 5 tables of players. Butch Webb and Marilyn Suber took home first place with Alan and Donna Taylor winning second. Next month the tourney will be in Elm Grove on the 10th. Shiloh has entered the circuit to replace Winchell, so the tourney will be there in November.

Marilyn and Michael Suber and I attended the cemetery meeting at the Cox cemetery Saturday morning. There were only 7 present. The rain might have kept some away. A nice new sign has been hung at the entrance and it looks real good.

The Richland Springs Coyotes defeated Lometa last Friday night. The mercy rule sent Lometa home at halftime with a score of 48-0. This week the Coyotes travel to Gordon.

Grace and Harold Hardman were celebrating their 62nd wedding anniversary last Sunday. Congratulations and many more!

There were only 4 ladies out to quilt for the Busy Bee quilters last Tuesday. They were Fay and Gloria Lusty, Grace Hardman and Carol Orr. Carol was back from a vacation in Wyoming. She said it was getting cold up there. They worked on a quilt for Gloria and next month they will be quilting on the one for the VFD fundraiser.

Marilyn, Michael and I were lunch guests of Georgia and Jaxon Tucker for grandparent’s day at Brady elementary on Monday. We went last year and we enjoy these days.

Remember the gospel singing at Elm Grove on October 17th.
