Edwin Clarence Shelton

Edwin Clarence Shelton, age 85 of Cherokee passed away on Sunday, September 13, 2009 at his residence. Edwin was born on July 21, 1924 in Miami, Arizona to Clarence Shelton and Ethel (Palmer) Shelton. He married Barbara Garside in June 1946 in Arizona. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy during WWII. Edwin retired from General Dynamics as an Aeronautical Engineer. He had been a resident of Cherokee for two years, and formerly of Burnet and California.

Edwin was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, Maxine Lloyd; and one brother, Raymond Shelton.

Edwin is survived by his wife, Barbara of Cherokee; three daughters, Patricia Richards and her husband, Brent of California; Jerri Barrows and her husband, Gary of Chicago, Illinois; Sherri Heath and her husband, Bill of Cherokee; two sons, Duke Shelton and Scott Shelton of California; one sister, Eula Mae Beard of Arizona; one brother, Vernon Shelton of Tyler, Texas; eight grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

No services are planned at this time. Memorial Contributions may be made to the Cherokee Childrens Home or American Cancer Society.
