Ladies Golf Notes
Thursday, September 3, 2009 • Posted September 3, 2009

The San Saba Ladies Golf Association met August 27, 2009 for play day with the Chair for August, Dorothy Sterner, calling for a game of counting the even holes on the front nine and the odd holes on the back nine, less half your handicap. First Place went to Jo Ann Snow and there was a tie for Second and Third between Sandee Hartley and Jo Anne Hardy. Jo Anne Hardy also captured Low Gross and Low Net for the day. Becky Hardin and Hattie Rogers also participated. We are small in number but that doesn’t stop the ladies from having fun in the sun! We still welcome new players!

The City of San Saba has informed the ladies that the fountain to be installed on the #18 hole is in and they will begin installation this week. It is going to be a beautiful addition to an already beautiful golf hole! San Saba should be so proud of their golf course. People have been coming to San Saba for years just to play golf on our course. Someone once commented, “Isn’t it amazing that a group will drive by so many golf courses in route, just to play in San Saba?” It is amazing! And more than one retired couple have explained that they picked San Saba as their retirement home because of the golf course! It is such an asset to our city!

So if you aren’t a golfer you should consider giving golf a try. It’s fun, it’s a challenge, it is healthy, and it is good for the soul. Our pro, Keith Harris, gives lessons and will be glad to get you off on the right foot. And in time you will just love to be out there “swinging!”
