The San Saba JV opened their 2009 season at DeLeon. The Dillos came out and played well for the first 1 and ½ quarters. The Bearcats did not get a first down during the time. Then the Dillos had a punt blocked, which got the team down emotionally. The Dillos allowed them to drive 25 yards for a TD. They went for the 2 point conversion and were successful. The Dillos were unable to move the ball after the kickoff and had to punt the ball. San Saba was able to make a great goaline stand as time expired to end the first half. The score was 8-0 DeLeon.

The kids came out in the second half with more intensity, moved the ball well and scored on an 8 yard run by Sean Argote. The 2 point conversion was a pass from Clayton Perry to Luke Cox.

In the 4th quarter San Saba allowed DeLeon to drive the ball and score the winning TD and 2 point conversion. The final score was 16-8 DeLeon.

The coaches were proud of the boys, but stated they needed to start playing with more intensity at the start of the game and finish with the same level of INTENSITY!

Offensive Standouts- Zack Davis, Luke Cox, Clayton Perry, Diego Montoya, Michael McKinnerney.

Defensive Standouts- Rustin Ellis, Nathan Amstead, Luke Cox.

Next Thursday, September 3rd, the San Saba JV will Play in Mason @ 6:00 pm @ the Puncher Dome.
