Today's Girl sponsoring a sheet and towel drive for returning Ft. Hood soldiers
Thursday, September 3, 2009 • Posted September 3, 2009

The Heart of Texas Regional Today's Girl Youth Development Program will begin their new community service for the fall. The girls will have a booth at the Pecan Capital Trade Day on the Court House Square in San Saba on Saturday, September 5th from 8 a.m.-2 p.m. The organization will be collecting new twin sheet sets, bath towels and cash donations to purchase the items for the troops returning to Ft. Hood from overseas in November and December. The girls will be working under the direction of the Family Readiness Group for the Bravo Company 303rd MI BN who has 93 soldiers currently serving in Iraq and Afghanistan.

The single (unmarried) soldiers are no longer issued sheets or towels for example, and when they return from overseas their vehicles are in storage. When these young men and women arrive home, they go off to their barracks and either have to call a cab into town to purchase these items or sleep on a bare mattress. Today's Girls are asking everyone to step up to the plate and donate these items, because we know they deserve a shower and a comfortable bed to rest on when they arrive home. The soldiers will begin coming home the first week in November and December, so we would embrace our community as part of the Today's Girl Program to support their endeavors in providing these items for our soldiers and show them that Central Texas does have a "big heart" and does appreciate each of them.

To show you care, please drop off your donations at our booth at Trade Day or contact Kay Lynn Scott, P.O. Box 93, San Saba, TX., 76877, 325-372-8600, or by email at:performancetalent@yahoo.com
