Now is the time to sign up and attend substitute training. San Saba ISD quite often uses substitute teachers to fill in when teachers/staff are absent from school. This year, we are asking that substitutes attend a substitute orientation/training prior to substituting on the campuses. A substitute orientation/training will be held on Tuesday, September 1, at 5:30 pm in the San Saba High School Library. It is necessary to provide substitutes with this training so that they will be familiar with new policies and procedures that have been implemented that may be unique to the campuses and to familiarize subs with the District-wide policies that are the same on all campuses. It is also important to hold this training so that substitutes can be given information on our new curriculum – CSCOPE. As well, we will be hosting an additionally training in the very near future if substitute candidates are unable to attend the training scheduled for September 1.

August 24, 2009 was the first day of school for the 2009-2010 school year. Students arrived anxious to hear from their three new campus principals. Students were met with some new policies and some were met with requests to get haircuts of which they gladly complied. All campus principals reported strong numbers in their enrollment and very positive attitudes from the students. Please continue to support these new principals and feel free to contact them regarding any questions that you may have about the campus where your child attends school.

Remember the Coach Pannell’s slogan for the year - WE ARE SAN SABA – WE ARE TOGETHER! What a great vision for our school year – it truly does take all of us to help our kids be successful. We all need to be on the same page and traveling down the road in the same direction so that our students will know that they have our support. We appreciate the support you give the students and staff of San Saba ISD.

Please remember that our website is the key to keeping up-to-date on school happenings. Please visit www.san-saba.net to view events and find information you need to know about SSISD. Please be patient with us as we update the website in the coming weeks. As well, we need your patience as we get a new parent portal for grades and attendance viewing installed and rolled out. The new portal called TxConnect functions very much like what we have used in the past – Parent Connect. In the coming weeks, parents will be receiving instructions as to the steps needed to access the parent portal which will provide them with a look at grades and attendance.
