The Neatly Dressed Children
Thursday, August 27, 2009 • Posted August 27, 2009

While traveling in several foreign countries I noticed the way children have to dress for school. In those countries they have to wear school uniforms.

For instance, Elementary school students will wear uniforms with certain colors and Junior High students other colors and High School students even different colors. To attend school you have to have a uniform.

Those uniforms reminded me of something in the Bible. God does have a dress code for both men and women but He also has a behavioral or conduct code. Both codes are found in His Word the Bible. God wants us to study and know His word.

Second, He wants us to apply it or practice it, not just know it. I remember so many times on my grade school report cards there was a little area for the teacher’s comments about conduct. Several times my report card had a check in the box that said, “Needs improvement”. Most of God’s guidelines can be summed up in the Ten Commandments, (Exodus 19:3-17) but there are also others in the New Testament.

It pleases God very much when we try to live in the way that He desires, (Leviticus 18:1-5, John 14:21&23). Yes, it may take effort and self denial but it is rewarding. Especially on that day we shall stand before Him and he says, “Well done my good and faithful servant” (Matthew 25:21).

See you in Church next Sunday.
