It’s opening day!!! No not of baseball, but for teachers to return for another school year! I want to report to you that SSISD staff reported back for work anxious, excited, and enthusiastic which made for a great opening day. Teachers began their day with a “welcome back” breakfast and later provided with an update from a variety of areas. The staff refocused on our efforts to improve the services and education we provide students, we looked at legislative updates, accountability updates, curriculum plans and what will soon be a massive technology update. I have talked to you about the many technology upgrades that our District will see over the coming months. One of the best things that most people don’t realize is that this upgrade comes at little cost to our District and local taxpayers. Because we have actively sought out grants and used our federal grant dollars wisely, San Saba ISD staff and students will see their access to technology soar in the coming months.

The staff will continue their preparation for students to report on Monday, August 24. The remaining days of staff in-service will be spent at an educational conference in Brownwood sponsored by our Education Service Center 15, brushing up on CPR and AED protocol, software training and preparing classrooms for the much anticipated arrival of students.

Armadillo Football is in full swing! Don’t forget to join us at football games this season! Reserved seats and season tickets are available at the San Saba High School Office. Please join us for a scrimmage scheduled for Thursday, August 20 vs. Brady JV and the Cross Plains Varsity! As well, please turnout this evening for “Meet the ‘Dillos” to meet everyone involved in our early fall sports programs.
