GOD IS PRESENT

Have you ever lost someone who was close to you? That’s probably a silly question because many of you have lost parents, mates, grandparents, even children. We grieve at the loss and desire that we could have just one more meeting with them to tell them how we feel. We have their memory but not their physical presence.

Sometimes we are separated from those we love. They may live in another state or even another country. We may be able to talk to them on the phone or the computer through email, but it is not the same as having them right with us so we can visit with them often.

As I was reading through Hebrews the other day this verse of scripture caused me to think about what a wonderful blessing we have. The verse states, “Make sure that your character is free from the love of money, being content with what you have; for He Himself has said, `I will never leave you, nor will I ever forsake you.’” (13:5) Again we have this precious promise from God.

There have been times that I may have forgotten this and think that I am the one in charge and not God. I may think that it is Doug who is able to do great things when there is nothing I could accomplish without the help of the Father. And He is always there, always present.

Do you believe this? When you are traveling down the road in the car, is God present? When you are in the classroom, either teaching or learning, is God there? When you are at work is God there? When you are doing recreational activities (golf, football, baseball, etc.) is God there? Yes!

I am comforted by knowing that when life comes crushing down, God is there. All I have to do is call upon Him and He will answer. He may not always answer the way I want Him to, but he does answer. You see, He knows what I need more than I do.. For the faithful child of God He is always there and He will never leave or forsake us. Let’s trust and obey Him.
