Janene Alcalar wins 1st place in Universal Royalty Beauty Pageant in Austin, Texas

Janene, four year old daughter of John and Jeannie (Zulauf) Alcalar of Thrall, Texas competed in the Universal Royalty Beauty Pageant for ages 4 to 5 in Austin, Texas, on June 6th. Janene competed in Best Dress, Photogenic, Baby Face, and Miss Personality. Janene walked away with all four 1st place awards and the Miss Universal Royalty Crown.

Janene wore a lavender party dress covered with swarovski stones with a poofy cupcake skirt. To accent her dress Janene wore a swarovski necklace with matching drop leaf earrings. For her hair style she chose to have her dark brown hair pulled up and penned with matching Swarovski hair pens. Her shoes were white patton leather with gem stones in the center. Janene was escorted on the stage by her five year old brother, J.D. Alcalar.

After winning her crown and 4 trophies, Janene was interviewed by a reporter from the New York times and her interview is posted on the New York Times website.

On Saturday, August 8th, Janene competed in the Texas State Universal Royalty Beauty Pageant where she placed 3rd in the state for her age group.

Janene wore a red and white party dress with a white poofy cupcake skirt covered with red hearts and swarovski stones. Janene accented her dress with a matching Swarovski necklace and matching earrings. For her hair style, her hair was pulled back and curled in large curls that were held with a matching red bow. For her swim wear competition, Janene wore a black and white tuxedo style swimsuit covered with Swarovski stones with black patton leather shoes.

Janene’s maternal grandparents are Kathy and Odie Baca of Taylor and John Zulauf, Jr. of Cherokee. Her great-grandparents are Jack and Sylvia Sanderson and Willynn Zulauf.
