The Bend community center has really been used this month for birthday parties. First Elsa Dean Shirley and this past Saturday a big birthday celebration held for Foy Gibson. Many friends and family attended and helped

to celebrate the big event. Son-in-law Tommy Ketchum fried the fish which was served to all the guests and of course the birthday cake. Some friends dropped by early to wish Foy a happy birthday and then went on to attend the

campground meeting.

The Methodist Campground meeting was well attended each night and a crowd attended the lunch on the grounds Sunday. The Sunday night attendance was

down, but the preaching and singing was some of the best.

Phil B and Winnie Lou McCoury had a busy week. Members of their family were

in and attended the services at the Campground. Family members visiting were Phyliss and Charles Brookshird, Charles, Diane, Phillip and Rebecca Dowdy,

Curtis Lemons and daughter Hollie Ann and his girlfriend Sidney, Justin and Kate McCoury, Steven and LaShonda and their children Cole and Kyle Keen from

Bryan. Terry Hall had supper with the McCoury family Thursday night. While attending the meeting, Kyle the baby of Steven and LaShona was Christened.

Larry Max, Donna, Trent and Daniel Hensley of Midland visited in the home of

his sister and brother-in-law Jo and Bill Price this past week. Lots of time spent catching up on family and just visiting.

Rufus Cobern was in the Scott and White Hospital in Temple suffering from Clostridium (an intestinal bacterial infection.) He was released Thursday and is recovering at home. Keep him in your prayers.

Condolences go out to Rufus Cobern and all the family of Ruby Gage who passed away last week.

Jack and LaNell Daniels have been under the weather. Shirley Meischen has had some medical problems. Jane Clark was to the doctor Thursday about her

foot that she dropped a heavy book on, which has been very painful. Barbara Jones has been having trouble with one of her knees and had to go in Monday to see what is causing all the pain. Hopefully by the time you read this

they will all be on the mend.

Frank Wakeman and his mother Louise Barefoot of Lampasas was out at the Bend visiting Lola Morris and also attended the birthday celebration of Foy Gibson.

Happy birthday wishes go out to LaShonda Keen who will celebrate a birthday August 23, to Darrell Herd who will celebrate his birthday August 24 and to

Kristi Messer who will celebrate a birthday August 27.
