Six local firemen attend the 80th Annual Municipal Texas Fire Training School
Thursday, August 20, 2009 • Posted August 20, 2009

This year I had the privilege of taking six of our Firemen to the 80th Annual Municipal Texas Fire Training School at Texas A&M in College Station, Texas. For four of our members Edward Fajardo, Jesse Gonzales, Juan Montoya, and Frank Galindo this was their first trip to A&M. They all took Fire Fighting phase 1. Anthony Cantu and John Romero both took Fire Fighting phase III adding to their depth and skill as fire fighters.

The fire school at A&M is one of the best, if not the best fire training school in the world. Each year they add more specialized live fire training, as well as more classes for those individuals who wish to pursue anything from fire investigation to public education.

We the citizens of San Saba should be very proud of our department and support them as they continue to attend this school and deepen their knowledge of fire fighting.

At our last fire meeting we had a chance to talk to those who attended for the first time, and they were very pleased with what they had learned, and felt that this training would help them be better firemen and able to take a more active role to protect our City from fire and any of the other emergencies they may be called upon to respond.

As for Anthony Cantu and John Romero, their training is built upon successful completion of Fire fighter 1 and 2. Anthony has been going to the fire school for a number of years and has successfully completed fire fighter 5 and automobile extrication. These young men represented San Saba in such a way that we can all be very proud of, and I can truly say I'm looking forward to taking them back next year. Thanks for your continued support.
