The San Saba Ladies Golf Association met August 6, 2009 for the monthly business meeting and play day with the following members present: Sandee Hartley, Jo Ann Snow, Hattie Rogers, Bobbie Churchill, Jo Anne Hardy, Dorothy Sterner, Kay Barclay, and Anita Miles. We had two delightful guests, the grandchildren of Dorothy Sterner, Courtney and Connor McNeal from Boerne, Texas. They came with their mother, Kay Barclay. Courtney will be a student at Texas State this fall and Connor is thirteen years old. It seems has though grandma is a little under the weather with a leg problem and these are caregivers. We were happy that Kay got to join the ladies for play day. She is a long time member but only gets to play in tournaments. We are wishing Dorothy a speedy recovery!

The business meeting was called to order by the President, Anita Miles, and the meeting was opened with prayer led by Hattie Rogers. The minutes were read by the Secretary, Hattie Rogers, and were approved as read. The Secretary read a thank you note from the Craigan Johnson family for the memorial to the Baptist Building Fund. The Treasurer, Bobbie Churchill, gave the financial report.

Sandee Hartley, the Traveling 4-Ball Chair, gave a financial report on the San Saba Tournament and announced that the Traveling 4-Ball for August will be August 18, 2009 at Blue Lake.

The president appointed Hattie Rogers and Jo Ann Snow to serve as the nomination committee for officers for 2010.

The ladies voted to cancel the Little-Low Cup Tourney for this year due to a lack of members for participation.

The president reminded members of their jobs for the upcoming Four Lady Pecan Classic Tournament scheduled for August 22, 2009. If you have a team for this tournament you need to enter it as soon as possible by calling Anita Miles at 325-372-3581.

The members were also reminded that the Ladies Association will be running the concession stand at the Three Person Tournament on August 15-16, 2009 and will be needing workers. If you can help, please call Hattie Rogers.

The ladies adjourned for play day with the Chair for August, Dorothy Sterner, calling for a game of team play using one low score for the team. The team of Anita Miles, Sandee Hartley, and Jo Ann Snow defeated the team of Kay Barclay, Jo Anne Hardy, and Hattie Rogers by a score of 84 to 86. Anita Miles had her day in the sun shooting an 89 for Low Gross and Low Net for the day and scoring a birdie! Her best round of the summer! Hattie Rogers chipped in and Sandee Hartley had two chip ins to split the Chip In Pot.

With the San Saba Pecan Classic Four Lady Tournament on the horizon, all the ladies should be out there on our beautiful San Saba River Golf Course “swinging!”
