I just wanted each of you to know that you should be so proud,

Many, many is the time you pleased a cheering crowd!

It wasn’t all easy, each one of you know this is true.

You performed when it was hot, and then so cold you’d turn blue.

Think of all the hard work and all the cakes you had to sell.

There’s all ages of you represented, and the tales you could tell.

I’m only a mom that sat back and listened and I watched it all.

I’ve watched you all grow and change and a few things I recall—

Some of you baked brownies with “something else” inside—

Some of you didn’t have the “runs”, but some of you almost died!

You all did lots of things, and some of them were strange,

But, as each of you know, as we age, we change!

You used to kick so high and really strut your stuff.

But now it seems, for some of you, just walking is hard enough!

You all had painted faces and wore a “great big grin”—

You still paint your faces, but now some have a double chin!

You wore your short, short skirts and your boots looked oh, so neat.

Now you wear your sloppy robe and house shoes on your feet!

Yep—time changes all of us (as you all knew it would).

But girls, you have your memories, and they should be good!

I had to tease you just a bit, but girls, you made me proud—

I’d like to tell you “Thanks”—You see, I was part of that cheering

crowd!
