Elm Grove Echoes

We had several rainy days last week. We received 2.7 inches here in Richland Springs and I heard they got over 2 inches in Elm Grove. I believe it rained out the rodeo here on Saturday night.

This is rodeo week in Elm Grove. It starts on Thursday night at 8:00 P.M. Contestants can sign up on arrival and there is no entry fee to participate in the rodeo.

There will be a trail ride from Indian Creek Saturday morning and a barbecue at 5:30 P.M. Saturday evening. Come on out and join us for all the fun.

We were sorry to hear of the passing of Kenneth Gilbreath of Brookesmith. The Gilbreath family were members of our community for many years. Kenneth was the youngest of thirteen children and now only one boy, Jack, is left. There were ten boys in the family and all of them played musical instruments. Graveside services were held Tuesday at the Cox Cemetery. We send our sympathy to the family.

There will not be a 42 tournament this month due to the rodeo being held on that date. The next tournament will be September 12th in Richland Springs.

The Busy Bee quilters will meet on August 11th.

The community meeting will be August 15th and we will all take part in an ice cream supper that night. Hostesses will be Kitty Cummings, Bonnie Evans and Wilma Lee. Anyone who has an ice cream freezer is welcome to bring some for the supper.
