Thursday, July 30, 2009 • Posted July 30, 2009

District 4-H Record Book Judging was held Thursday, July 16th in Llano, Texas. Several San Saba County 4H’ers placed at the contest.

San Saba County 4-Hers participating were:

*Sara Hedley, Senior Shooting Sports, red ribbon
  • Jordan Gossett, Junior Foods & Nutrition, participant
  • Abby Dellis, Intermediate Horse; red ribbon
  • Melanie Hedley, Intermediate Shooting Sports, participant ribbon
  • *Jennifer Watkins, Intermediate Clothing; pink ribbon

4-H’ers keep record books for several reasons. One reason is most wage-earning jobs require some type of record-keeping. Individuals and families keep records of personal expenses, of children’s inoculations and of expenses/deductions for income tax preparation.

Doing a 4-H record book is a great way to learn how to keep records. Another reason 4-Hers like to keep records is that it gives them the satisfaction of seeing what all you have accomplished in black and white.

A 4-Her can also earn recognition in county, district and state competitions. A 4-Her can also use their record book along with their grades to apply for 4-H scholarships.

Finally 4-Hers use their record books as references when doing resumes and filling out job applications. The best time to start keeping records is when you start the project. For more information about record books or San Saba County 4-H, call the San Saba County Extension Office at 372-5416.
