On Thursday, July 23, 2009, the employees of Central Texas Electric Co-op achieved one complete year of consecutive hours worked without a lost time accident. This marks the collective effort of four separate offices in an 11-county service area for the 136 employees and managers working at CTEC.

Board President David D. Smith of Stonewall, Texas said that “Safety is always a primary concern in any electric business.” Smith added “I want to convey, on behalf of the Board, our sincere congratulations to all our employees on one year of work without a lost time accident. We are very proud of this accomplishment.”

CEO Bob Loth joined Smith in applauding the co-op’s employees. According to Loth, CTEC’s accomplishment is significant among the 64 electric co-op’s in Texas. “To put this milestone in perspective,” Loth noted, “it means more than one-quarter million man-hours of work with a lost-time accident.

When you think about the kind of work our people do – working on high voltage electric lines, operating all kinds of machinery in all kinds of terrain, driving about 100 vehicles over a million miles at all hours of the day and night, and in all kinds of weather conditions – this accomplishment is remarkable.”

So the next time you see a CTEC employee at the little league game, the volunteer fire department meeting, church, or the chamber of commerce function, congratulate them on their success!
