Teddy Price, of San Saba, is in the Community Hospital in San Antonio being prepared for a kidney transplant. Price's three brothers and two sisters have been tested as an acceptable donor.
Dr. H.V. Felts, a retired San Saba dentist who recently traveled to Jamaica and served ten days as a Medical Missionary, returned to San Saba last Thursday, July 26.
Approximately forty nine young readers attended the Awards program and party honoring the Summer Reading Program at Rylander Memorial Library Friday, July 27th. San Saba County Judge Thomas Bowden presented the Reading Certificates and presented a Texas Flag that was flown over the State Capitol on July 4th in honor of Rylander Memorial Library to Mrs. Winnie Brown, for her forty years of faithful service.
Two open houses took place in the Cherokee community this past Sunday night. Those attending enjoyed an evening at Tom Barkers new home at the Cherokee Creek and Rita Boultinghouse's new home two miles south of Cherokee. We wish each of them happiness in their new homes.

Larry Day returned to the University of New Mexico at Las Cruces from Cape Canaveral, Fla., where he has been a student trainee with the Physical Science Laboratory. He has spent five months training in the Missile Program. The son of Mr. and Mrs. Ben R. Day, he is a 1957 honor graduate of San Saba High School.
Wallace E. Hinyard was elected commander of the Wiley B. Murray Post No. 27, American Legion last Thursday. Other officers elected included Arnold Behrens, Adjutant; Tim Sterner, senior Vice-Commander; Paul Golding, junior Vice-Commander; Carter Sloan, Chaplain; and Marvin "Red" Nance, Sergeant-at-Arms.
The SSISD school budget hearing will be at 8 p.m. Tues. Aug 4. The budget, totaling $291,087, will be discussed and adopted by the Board of Education. Supt. J.L. Akridge stated the estimated "per pupil cost" is about $248.54.
During a week's visit to Washington D.C., W. Barney Sullivan, manager of San Saba County Chamber of Commerce, was the guest of Congressman O.C. Fisher for lunch in the House Restaurant and met U.S. Senator Lyndon Johnson. Sullivan also had a tour of the capitol, visited with Senator Ralph Yarborough, and a dinner guest of Lt. Col. Tid Watkins and his wife, who showed him through the Pentagon.

A neat ice water fountain has been installed on the east side of the City National Bank, and the thirsty public is enjoying it as they stop on the corner and quench their thirst.
A caravan of San Saba cars loaded with boosters and entertainers made a three county loop Wednesday to advertise the Twenty-Fifth Annual San Saba County Fair.
The Second Annual Aerocade of Fort Worth has asked for a landing field at San Saba that they might visit here during their tour the latter part of September. Twenty planes and forty people will make the tour. A prominent automobile dealer of San Saba has said that he believes in an airport for San Saba to the extent of $200. How much do you believe in it?
Wayne Davenport, veteran halfback, has been chosen to tutor the athletes of his old home town team at Richland Springs. Davenport won his high school fame at San Saba.
