The City of San Saba & The San Saba Police Department would like to invite you to San Saba’s version of “National Night Out” on Saturday, August 8, 2009 from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Mill Pond Park. “National Night Out” is an event designed to heighten crime and drug prevention awareness; generate support for, and participation in, local anti-crime programs; strengthen neighborhood spirit and police-community partnerships; and send a message to criminals letting them know that neighborhoods are organized and fighting back.
San Saba is taking it a step further to include participation from the San Saba Police Department, San Saba County Sheriff's Department, San Saba Volunteer Fire Department, San Saba County EMS, and Game Warden Chris Wilson.
The event will feature “Hands On” demonstrations, “Question & Answer” sessions and law enforcement, fire & emergency vehicles of every kind.
The Texas Parks and Wildlife’s “Operation Game Thief Wall of Shame” exhibit will be there for everyone to tour. Those who love wildlife and the outdoors, including responsible sportsmen who hunt and fish, are conservationists with respect for the wildlife of Texas and for other sportsmen. Poachers have no regard for the wildlife they steal. Operation Game Thief wants to spread the word that Texans will not tolerate illegal hunting and fishing! By supporting Operation Game Thief, you can make a difference in the fight against poachers.
There will also be live entertainment, hot dogs, and fun for all ages. It’s a wonderful opportunity for San Saba to promote police-community partnerships, crime prevention, and neighborhood camaraderie. While the one night is certainly not an answer to crime, drugs and violence, “National Night Out” does represent the kind of spirit, energy and determination that is helping to make many neighborhoods safer places throughout the year. It’s a night to celebrate safety and crime prevention successes and to expand and strengthen programs for the next 364 days.
