Ladies Golf Notes

On July 16, 2009 the San Saba Ladies Golf Association hosted the monthly Traveling 4-Ball Tournament with 25 ladies participating from clubs in the Central Texas area.

I am happy to report that all nine of the San Saba ladies scored their points! Janet Hoytt, our newest participant, scored the maximum of 40 points! Good going Janet! This is an accomplishment for any ladies association. Therefore, we had winners!

Dorothy Sterner and Hattie Rogers were on the first place team, Jo Anne Hardy was on the second place team, Shirley Hardin was on the third place team, Janet Hoytt was on the fourth place team, Jo Anne Snow, Sandee Hartley, and Becky Hardin were on teams that tied for fifth place, and poor Anita Miles’ team was fourteen strokes out, not a good team effort, but she at least made her points. So it was a good day for the San Saba ladies!

We had juice and donut holes as a welcome treat and then the ladies had peanut butter, cheese, and crackers during the tournament. Betty Ann Johnson catered a delicious salad luncheon, with pasta, fruit, and chicken salads. Rolls, tea, and cobbler finished out the menu. The visiting ladies are always happy to come to San Saba for the food that is always served. Betty Ann does such a good job and we appreciate her so much. She had a handsome young helper, Brenda Land’s grandson, one of the Means twins. He was delightful with his smile and charm.

Sandee Hartley, the Traveling 4-Ball Chair, did an outstanding job running the tournament. We didn’t have as many players as usual but we think the heat was a factor. The players that did make it were most complimentary of our course, the tournament, the food, and the fellowship!

Now it’s time to move on to our Summer Pecan Classic Four Lady Tournament! It’s time to enter your team and you really need to be out there practicing and “swinging!”
