Elm Grove Echoes

Today (Monday) has been a cloudy, rainy day. I don’t know how much it measured, probably not very much. The temperature has remained under 100 degrees and is supposed to stay that way until later this week.

There were 13 of us in attendance at the community meeting last Saturday night. We were so happy to have Wilma Lee back at the meeting for the first time in several months. Wilma is looking much better and we hope she continues to improve. She was accompanied by Curtis and their daughter, Ellen.

An ice cream supper is planned for the August community meeting. Scheduled to serve as hostesses are Kitty Cummings and Wilma Lee. Anyone who cares to is asked to bring a freezer of ice cream and the rest will bring cookies, etc.

Jerald and Gloria Weatherman were celebrating their anniversary and didn’t make it back in time for the meeting. We hope they had a happy anniversary.

The Elm Grove community club is still looking for a good used piano to buy or take off your hands for a fair price. We would appreciate any leads that anyone has for one.

We were very happy to receive the news that June McPherson has been officially declared in remission. That is an answer to a lot of prayers and we know June and Rusty and the rest of the family are very relieved. It has been going on three years since I was declared to be in remission and I still thank the Lord every day!

I hope you are all getting ready for the big Elm Grove Rodeo which is coming up August 6, 7 & 8. A barbecue supper will be held Saturday evening. Watch the paper for more details.

We plan to travel out to San Angelo Thursday evening to have a happy birthday dinner with Georgia Grace Tucker. She will be turning 7 that day. Georgia and her brother, Jaxon, are enrolled in Kids College at ASU this week. She said all she wanted was for us to show up for her dinner and bring her a “personal” birthday cake. So we plan to grant this wish for her. We do just about anything for the grandkids, don’t we?

The Busy Bee quilters met last Tuesday and only had three members present. Some were sick and some had Dr.’s appointments and so forth. Gloria Lusty, Grace Hardman and Marilyn Miller worked on Grace’s quilt. She will bring it back again in August.

We want to send our best wishes to Irene Hammett and hope she gets to feeling better.
