The San Saba Ladies Golf Association met July 2, 2009 for the monthly business meeting.

The President, Anita Miles, called the meeting to order and the meeting was opened with prayer by Hattie Rogers. The Secretary, Hattie Rogers, then read the minutes and they were approved as read. The Treasurer, Bobbie Churchill, gave the financial report.

The Traveling 4-Ball Chair, Sandee Hartley, announced that San Saba would be hosting the Traveling 4-Ball on July 16, 2009 and Betty Ann Johnson will be catering a salad lunch.

Other members present were Jo Ann Snow, Jo Anne Hardy, Dorothy Sterner, and Pat Ribb.

The meeting was adjourned for the annual traditional flag tournament. The Chair for July, Anita Miles, passed out the American flags to each player and they were instructed to play until they used the number of strokes in their handicap plus 72 and then plant their flag. It is a fun tournament and a fine way to represent the red, white, and blue of our country’s flag! Some didn’t make it to the eighteenth hole and some went all the way and on to restart on #1. Sandee Hartley won first by a few feet over Jo Ann Snow who captured second. These ladies played the eighteen holes and went back to #1 to finish out their strokes. Jo Anne Hardy almost made it to the end of the 18th hole for third place.

Sandee also scored the Low Gross of the day and Jo Ann Snow tied with Sandee for Low Net. Jo Ann had a great day scoring the only birdie of the day and won the chip in pot! Good round for Jo Ann!

What a fun day and we are so blessed to live in the good old USA! Dorothy Sterner had on her red, white, and blue and Anita Miles also had her American flag shirt on. But several had on pink? Go, figure! The colors aren’t so important. The important thing is we’re still out there “swinging!”
