We have had no rain the past three weeks but there is a chance in the forecast. We think we might have heard thunder this afternoon.

We enjoyed having Bethany Suber home this past weekend. We also had Marla Cummings for the weekend. That was a special treat.

Today, we have Jaxon and Jesse Tucker while Amy and Georgia make a trip to Austin for Georgia’s checkup. They called back and said she got a good report for which we are very thankful.

G.H. Suber was also a weekend guest with us. He and Michael attended the bird auction in Lampasas Saturday and Sunday. They said it was the biggest sale they had attended with over 900 cages of birds to be sold. Some of these birds are very expensive, bringing thousands of dollars.

G.H. bought 10 cages of birds, among them, a pair of crimson headed cardinals from Brazil. They are very beautiful. He has a large aviary in Odessa and sells a lot of his birds through a pet store owned by a friend of his.

We all took in the fish fry at the fire station Saturday night. The fish was delicious as always. It didn’t seem like the crowd was quite as big as last year. The heat could have had something to do with that. I haven’t heard how much the total proceeds amounted to.

Emily Mask was telling us that she and Mode have another reason to be proud of their granddaughter, Kirsten, she and her Mom, Kari, as well as her brother, Mason, spent last week in San Jose, California where Kirsten competed in gymnastics at the national level.

She won national champion on the trampoline, second in the double mini competition and second all around. Kirsten came home with one big gold medal and two big silver ones and her Grandma said her feet were barely touching the ground! This is quite an accomplishment and Kirsten’s family has every right to be proud of her. I predict this young lady will go far!
