We have had no rain this past week but the countryside is still pretty and green.

There were only 10 of us present at the community meeting last Saturday night. We had a new couple, John and Daralynne Normand, from Houston. They have bought the Jim Dempsey place and, since he is now retired, they hope to be up here more often. We welcome them to the community.

Marilyn and I had a visit with Wilma Lee over a haircut before going to the community meeting. Wilma has had another stay in the hospital but is feeling some better and trying to gain weight and strength. She has lots of good help with Curtis and the kids and grandkids. Granddaughter, Jennie, was the companion for the weekend.

The Elm Grove community club is in need of a good, used piano. If you know of one, give us a call at 325-452-3591. We have some old pianos we need to get rid of. One of them could be a practice piano with a tuning. These old pianos are free for the asking.

We voted to have an ice cream supper for the August community meeting. Mark your calendars and get out the freezers. Sounds mighty good to me.

We were sorry to hear of the passing of Nellie V Wood of Brownwood. She and C. B. were residents of our community for many years before moving to Brownwood for health reasons. We send our sympathy to the family.

I had a good visit last week with Lanell and Ken Parson and their family in Bangs.

We were sorry to hear about the passing of Sputnik Bush. Sputnik was a friend to all who knew him and he will be missed. His services were held Monday afternoon. Our sympathy goes out to his family.

There were six members present at the Busy Bee quilters last Tuesday. Marilyn Miller, Gloria and Fay Lusty, Catalina Luna, Grace Hardman and Irene Hammett worked on a quilt for Grace Hardman. She will bring back the same quilt to be worked on in July. Visitors besides myself were Nancy Slaughter, Billie McKinnerney and Callie Hammett.

Valita Turner of Brownwood passed away and will have graveside services Wednesday at the Holt Cemetery. She married Barney Turner and they lived in the Holt community for several years before moving to Brownwood.
