If you’re traveling on CR 102 west of Llano, you might think you’re on just another dusty road in Central Texas. But, then, as you look toward the Llano River, your eyes feast on the luxurious resort on the banks of one of the most beautiful sections of the River. You’ve arrived at Walden’s Plantation.
A group of about 20 Red Hatters and a few special guests enjoyed a sumptuous lunch on Wednesday, June 17 at the poolside restaurant. The menu featured gourmet salad and sandwich offerings and the restaurant’s signature dessert, a delicious confection that tasted remarkably like Elsie Millican’s famous pecan pie—almost! The group received a guided tour of the resort and was mesmerized by not only the scenery but the exquisite furnishings and amenities of the luxury Resort.
Walden’s Plantation is owned by Ft. Worth residents, Angie and Brian Walden. The couple wanted to buy a little land and build a small cabin in the Hill Country to accommodate their frequent motorcycle trips to the area. Well, one thing led to another, and the next thing they knew Angie and Brian had built one of the most fabulous new facilities in our area. Check out the resort at www.waldenplantation.com.
San Saba ladies attending the luncheon included Carol Littlefield, Frances Herrington, Martha Roe Terry, Ann McElroy, Pat Belk, Merlane Pool, Marcie Cooper, Jymmie Linzey, Jeanne Sauer, Dee Dee Stewardson, Lige Ann Stewardson, Shirley Dickison, Imogene Hawkins, Gladys Conner, Betty Wilson and Fran Hulgan. Special guests were Elsie Millican and Zolly Jones.
The San Saba Red Hatters meet for lunch monthly and take occasional trips to venues such as Walden’s Plantation. If you’re interested in being a Red Hatter or just want to accompany the group occasionally, please call Carol Littlefield at 372-3883 for information.
