CASA for the Highland Lakes will host their 4th Annual Ridin for Kids-Armadillo Run Motorcycle Rally in San Saba, TX. The Rally is a fundraiser and awareness event for CASA, a local non-profit volunteer based child advocacy organization that directly impacts the lives of children affected by abuse in Burnet, Blanco, Lampasas, Llano, & San Saba Counties. The date for the event is June 26th though 28th. The Rally will be held in the shade covered Risien Park on the banks of the beautiful San Saba River at the outskirts of San Saba. The event will include motorcycle runs on Friday and Saturday, live bluegrass music Friday evening and live music all day Saturday beginning at noon. Two days of camping are included with registration. There will be many vendors for your shopping pleasure as well! Also scheduled are bike games, a bike show, and other activities.

Friday’s schedule begins with gates opening at noon with the first organized activity being a Breast Cancer Awareness fun run at 4 PM, Think Pink!!! If you don’t have pink leathers, that’s OK! The first 50 registrants are to receive a commemorative ride pin. One would ask “Why would a children’s advocacy organization have a Breast Cancer Awareness function at a motorcycle rally?” Well, that is simple! All of us know someone who has been affected in some way by this disease and they almost always have been women. Approximately 50% of the abused children that are served by CASA are little girls destined to become women, some of which may develop breast cancer if a cure is not found soon. Thus, advocacy at the grassroots level! Later in the schedule, about 8:30 PM, there will a bike parade through the city, just before the music starts.

Saturday will begin with a prize run focusing awareness on our nation, our freedom, and the veterans & soldiers that have kept it that way for the past two + centuries with patriotic ride pins to the first 50 persons signed in (last bike out at noon). There will be other motorcycle activities scheduled throughout the day. The live music will begin at noon and continue through midnight. Artists include; The Paul Thomsen Combo, Cross Over, Hundred Fold Seed, Daniel Conti and Drawing Back and James Robert Murray’s Texas Soul. From the bluegrass music on Friday night to the last act on Saturday night, music lovers will find something to fit their style. One could hear anything from gospel to country to blues to hard hitting rock & roll.

So whether you have pink leathers or not; whether you like wind in your face or just chillin to music; come on out and enjoy some good ole down home fun while helping the abused children of the Highland Lakes Area. This is a family friendly event and everyone is welcome!
