Elm Grove Echoes
Thursday, June 18, 2009 • Posted June 18, 2009

We have received about 1.5 inches of rain here in Richland Springs in the past week. I heard some of my old neighbors at Elm Grove had more than 2 inches.

There was a large number of folks at the 2nd annual Elm Grove VFD fundraiser last Saturday night. The crowd enjoyed some very good fish and trimmings. I would consider the auction a success although I have not heard an actual dollar amount as far as proceeds are concerned.

It was very good to see June McPherson able to be there. She was accompanied by her son, Rick McPherson.

Harold and Grace Hardman have good reason to be bragging on their grandson, Heath, again. It seems he brought home about $4200 as well as a new saddle from the Head and Heeling roping in San Angelo. Heath is doing very well for himself.

Curtis Smith has been getting in some good fishing again. He has volunteered to cook up a batch for us to have next Sunday after church at Holt. If you would like to come and join us you are surely welcome. The services start at 11:00 AM. After some good singing and preaching, we will enjoy a good fish dinner.

We were sorry to receive the news today that Nellie V Wood of Brownwood had passed away. Nellie V and C.B. were residents of Elm Grove for many years and raised their family there. Her services are pending at the time of this writing. We send our sympathy to her family.

Remember the community meeting this Saturday night, June 20th. Marilyn Suber and I are the hostesses for this meeting.
