Peggy Henniger called with some great news last week. She reported that she and Calvin had a new great grandson. His name is Cody James Hunt. Cody weighed in at 9 pounds and 4 ounces and arrived May 28. His parents are Randi and Jeremy Hunt of San Angelo. Holly and Randy Key of Pecos are the proud grandparents.

Bill and Jo Price were in Midland Thursday to attend the reunion luncheon for the ARCO retirees that meet every three months.

Jerome and Shirley Meischen just returned from their family reunion which was held at the lake in Kingsland. Attending was their daughters’ Sheila and Ralene and their husbands Craig Barefoot and Steve Gideon; granddaughters Quince and friend Brad, Jessica and her boyfriend Tony; and grandson Blake Gideon.

They all stayed in a three bedroom house with an over the garage apartment that slept eight people.

Some fished, some rode on the Seadoo and others read or just enjoyed watching the family pets playing. Everyone enjoyed lots of fun and plenty of good food. All returned home Sunday.

Bob and Doris Poe were out and about visiting Sunday. They stopped by the home of Lola Morris and enjoyed conversation, coffee and cake. Bill and Jo Price stopped by on their way home and reported on their domino game with Elo Henniger.

Rebecca Dowdy of Bryan the granddaughter of Phil B and Winnie Lou McCoury is out of school for the summer and will be spending some time with grandparents in Bend. Winnie Lou reported that she had plans for Rebecca. Meaning that Rebecca would be put to work around the house and maybe the garden.

This is a notice for all the family members and friends of the residents of Eventide nursing home. A family council has been formed and it is important that family members and friends of the residents of the center attend the monthly meetings which are held the fourth Saturday of every month, starting at 10:00 a.m. at the Housing Authority meeting room. At each meeting new information and concerns will be discussed.

The Bend Community meeting has been rescheduled for June 27, at 6:30 p.m. with a covered dish supper. Everyone is invited to attend and asked to bring a covered dish and/or a dessert. There will be an important business meeting and everyone is urged to attend.

Happy birthday greetings go out to William Clark who will celebrate a birthday June 16, to Alisha Rogers who will celebrate a birthday June 17.

Congratulations go out to Phillip and Bobbie Morris who will celebrate their anniversary June 15, and to Walter and Sheila Brister who will be celebrating their anniversary June 16th.
