Lady Dillo Report
Thursday, June 4, 2009 • Posted June 4, 2009

Well, after a long layoff due to the flu we finally got to run at the Regional Track Meet. The girls competed well and we ALMOST had a State Qualifier in two events.

Danessa Vasquez finished third in both the 1600 and 3200. She competed well and displayed DILLO PRIDE in both events but came up a bit short. Nessa finished fourth in the 1600 as a freshman and received bronze as a sophomore, maybe next year will be the year that we break through to Austin.

Samantha Henry threw a personal best of 110’11" in the Discus and placed seventh which is outstanding for a freshman. Haylee Oliver jumped 5' in the High Jump and placed seventh also. Rebecca Paredes competed in the 1600 and Jennifer Anaya was slated to run in the 200.

Jennifer had some tough luck as she jumped in the 200 but we made a vow as a coach and runner to be back at Ratliff Stadium next year. Despite her misfortune, she had a great year and really improved her work ethic and track times. We are really proud of her.

Overall it was a great year for these young ladies and all of our track girls. We had the “quality over quantity” theory working with the program this year, not a lot of bodies but some great performances. Thanks for a job well done.

Also, a big thanks to my dad, Richard Taylor, we got him back into the coaching groove after enjoying “retirement” for a few years. He worked with Samantha in the discus and did an outstanding job.

You’re a KEEPER DAD!!!
